About the Role
Our client is a privately owned transport company delivering logistics solutions to local and regional clients alike. They are currently seeking an experienced Transport Compliance Officer to take full ownership of our compliance function and ensure our transport operations remain compliant, audit-ready and operating to a high standard.This role suits someone who is proactive, organised, confident and accountable — someone who stays ahead of requirements, identifies issues early and follows matters through to completion without needing constant reminders or management follow-up.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily reviews of driver run sheets, including hours, breaks, locations, loads and required documentation.
- Monitor driver work/rest hours, fatigue compliance, licences, medicals, inductions, competencies and training.
- Manage driver compliance issues, non-conformances and corrective actions.
- Monitor truck and trailer compliance, inspections, defects, roadworthiness, load restraint, mass and dimension requirements.
- Manage Chain of Responsibility (CoR) requirements and escalate serious safety, fatigue, environmental or regulatory breaches.
- Investigate and manage safety incidents, vehicle damage, environmental incidents and client claims.
- Maintain compliance registers, investigations, corrective actions and a compliance calendar.
- Manage applicable Heavy Vehicle Accreditation requirements, audits, renewals and corrective actions.
- Maintain and manage ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements, including document control, audits, non-conformances and corrective actions.
- Use Microsoft Planner to manage compliance tasks, deadlines, follow-ups and supporting evidence.
- Provide regular compliance updates to management and ensure outstanding actions are followed through to completion.
You will ideally have:
- Demonstrated experience in transport compliance, preferably within heavy vehicle operations.
- Strong knowledge of fatigue management, CoR, heavy vehicle compliance and accreditation.
- Experience with audits, investigations, non-conformances and corrective actions.
- Experience with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 would be highly desirable.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Confidence to identify, communicate and escalate compliance issues.
- The ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
