Preventative & Corrective Actions

By IRP 1 min read

WHAT ARE PREVENTIVE & CORRECTIVE ACTIONS?

Preventive Action -Actions taken before an incident occurs to eliminate hazards.

Example: IRP’s S.A.M Campaign (Spot the hazard, Assess the risk, Make the change).

Corrective Action – Actions taken after an incident or near-miss to reduce the risk of recurrence.

Both types of actions work together ti minimise risk and improve workplace safety.

HOW TO IMPLEMENT PCA’S

SAFETY CHALLENGE:

  1. dentify hazards in your workplace and note opportunities for Preventive & Corrective Actions.
  2. Assess solutions that eliminate the hazard or reduce the risk to ALARP (As Low As Reasonably Practicable).
